When I came back from Mexico in March, I saw HUGE signs posted on the Mexican side stating: REQUIREMENTS FOR PASSPORTS FOR RE-ENTRY TO THE U.S. HAVE BEEN DELAYED UNTIL JUNE 2009.. you couldn't MISS  the signs, they were all over the place on the Mexican side.

You will be OK with your current Passport, for  now.

Yes, of course it is.  As long as you aren't travelling or returning from Mexico after the expiry date.  

Why would it not be ok to travel 9 months before your passport expires?!??

The only requirement is that you have at least six months left on your passport when you return to the UK or Europe.
