I am going to Miami Florida mid October ..?

for a 5 day conference. Can anyone give me information about anything that might be going on there at the time or suggest any place to visit. Also a nice but not to expensive place to stay there.

Well, it's a nice time of year to visit as the weather starts to cool off a little.   5 days in Miami, hmmm  

Where is the conference being held? Is it in a hotel?

Will you have a car?

Are other people joining you, or are you by yourself?

Before you book your hotel, make sure you check out what area it's in so that you know it's an ok location.  Ask again in Ask/Answers if you have to.  The location will depend on whether you have a car or not-our public transportation is terrible and not very safe.

Some nice places to visit: Vizcaya, Key Biscayne, Las Olas Boulevard in Ft Lauderdale (not far by car) Jungle Island, now between downtown Miami & Miami Beach(used to be the Parrot Jungle in South Miami before hurricane Andrew),Fairchild Tropical Gardes (gorgeous) shopping at Sawgrass Mall (again you need a car)   you really need a car to get around.
