  1. Dont be scared! First of all, if you are going to the jungle you need the yellow fever vaccine or they wont let you enter the region.

For the jungle you must bring insect repelant, long sleeved tshirt, rubber boots (muddy if it rains!) and comfortable pants. A hat is a must as well as sunblock.

To the highlands it's much better if you dress in layers. Start with a cotton Tshirt, a fleece sweatshirt and then a jacket in case it rains. Rubber soled shoes are a must for it may be slippery if it rains. A scarf and gloves could come handy but I recommend you buy them in the highlands as they sell beautiful alpaca things.

The jungle and the highlands are quite secure, as they are touristy spots they cater well for people there as they practically live out of tourism. Just be careful with valuable good and leave your credit cards in the hotel and carry small cash and dont flash you're a tourist. You'll be pretty safe following the normal set of rules; dont talk to starngers, dont go with stargers, walk on avenues and not hidden roads, etc.

  2. ok, i agree with what that other girl said, and also watch out for what you eat, I heard you can easily be contaminated with parasites in jungles and so forth. Just make sure what you are eating has been properly cleaned and is sanitary or else you may end up with a worm in you intestines. I'm not trying to freak you out, but you can never be too careful in a rural or jungle terrain where you are not used to the way of life.
