I have heard that most taxis have the seatbelts cut out, so the car seat would be useless anyway. I wasn't sure about travel laws for infants- are car seats required for infants, and what about traveling on a bus? Also, is it acceptable to breastfeed in public? Any travel tips would be useful.

  1. If you find seatbelts really cut out - I'd be hightailing it to a car rental agency. NO child should ever be in a car unrestrained, no matter what the law is. The laws of physics are the same everywhere. Also, at 6 months old, he should be in a car seat on the plane, if you are flying. Kids do better when they have their seat on the plane, same as in the car. They are less likely to want to run around and such since they are used to being put in a car seat whenever traveling.  And believe it are not, they are safer. Should turbulence happen, they are less likely to be injured or scared.

if you are planning on having your baby as a lap baby, you should know the truth of what can really happen, check the links below. Flight attendants refer to lap babies as MISSILES!!!! That's right, b/c missiles is what they become when there is heavy turbulence or other problems or rough flights. They give the count as "127 pax (passengers) and 3 missiles". Is a missile what you want your baby to be?

And the airline is very unlikely to replace the seat if they do damage it in baggage, which is frequent and undetectable until you're in an accident and the seat doesn't hold up. Just check to make sure that your car seat is FAA approved for aircraft use, should say so somewhere on a label on the seat.

I wouldn't have a problem breastfeeding my child no matter where I was at - and I've been to Mexico, I don't think its a big deal. Be discreet, use a blanket or a nursing top or Big Tshirt and you'll be just fine. Your baby has every right to eat, too, and its AWESOME That you're still breastfeeding! Way to go.

  2. the law says children have 2 travel in their chairs but the fact is tht its not commonly done and cops dont really pay attention 2 this :(

taxis doesnt have the seatbelts cut but they r always under the seats....y can take em out and use em

tour busses always have seatbelts but public transport buses never

yes its acceptable 2 breastfees in public but try 2 bring a babie quilt with u 2 cover urself while doing it

  3. There are no laws about car seats in Mexico, but it would certinly be wise for your baby to have his.  I have never seen seat belts cut out of taxis.  Yes you can br.feed in public, just be discreet.  I see  it all the time, and if you didn't know what she was doing, you wouldn't notice.  They usually just throw a receiving blanket over the baby and over their shoulder , or a shawl.
