  2. I saw a similar question about a week ago.

Why don't you consider taking a stroll downtown and looking up the Magistral Palace

                Via Condotti, 68

                Rome- Italy?

It is the headquarters and territory of the Royal Military Order of Malta, which is arguably the smallest country in the world, issuing its own postage stamps and maintaining its own customs.  It also has status with the United Nations.

I associate it with the New World Order, and it has a number of Central Intelligence Agency officers from the United States among its knights.

  4. The catacombs are fine - not gory at all - also have a look at the Appin Way - that was a interesting day trip!  Take lots of water!!

  5. OK, I am also going to Rome. Somethings I have researched is the catacombs. If you are not queasy, Some are skeletons stuck on walls to form beautiful artwork. I sounds gross but they are just so wonderful. Other then that it is like an underground cemetery, some are pagan some are christen, there are lots of them.

  6. Tivoli

    Villa D'Este

    Villa Gregoriana

    Hadrian's Villa

    Ostia Antica

  7. Colleseum, Vatican City, the Patheon.

  8. In a cemetry stands this monument of Caio Cesto a Roman pretor, tribune and a very rich man who could afford himself a sepulchre worthy of an Egyptian Pharaoh. It is of the best conserved and most characteristic monuments of ancient Rome. This pyramid was built in 12 a.D. during a period of 300 days, 27m high.

There is a light house on Monte Gianicolo was a gift to Rome in 1911 by the Italians from Argentina and it is a work of Manfredo Manfredi.  It is just a short stroll from Piazza Garibaldi. If you don't want to walk up the hill in the heat then take bus 780. You will also be rewarded with wonderful views over Rome from up here.

The Janiculum is not counted as one of the Seven Hills of Rome but was nicknamed the "8th hill". From here I think is the best view over the city of Rome.

Just above the Piazza del Popolo there is another wonderdul view over Rome and from up here you can enjoy a stroll in the Park around the Villa Borghese too.

  9. The less famous ones are:

Piazza del Popolo - nice, less common piazza

Old Trastevere - best food! beautiful smaller churches, real fun at night too!

Castel Sant'Angelo - great views of Roma from the top

San Giovanni (church) - beautiful church

Santa Maria Maggiore - beautiful church by Termini

Jewish Ghetto area - cute area on the river

Testaccio - best nightlife in Rome

Piramide (Porta Portese on Sundays) - market

    Villa Borghese- beautiful park

via Veneto - high end hotels/restaurants, very pretty

Enjoy, Roma is the best place in the whole world! I'm jealous!
