I would like to know what kind of clothing I should pack. We are going to stay at a very nice hotel in Rome but we'll be mostly doing the tourist thing, going from one place to another.

  1. I just got back and it is sooo hot over there right now and about to get even hotter. Pack light clothes for your daytime tourist ordeals but do keep in mind if you want to enter the Vatican you can't wear sleeveless shirts or short shorts. They are very strict and will not let you in. At night it gets a little cooler so you might want to pak a light jacket.

Also to let you know, people are very trendy in Rome so you might want to pack some cool trends unless you want to feel like a bum, lol.

    Hope this helps!

  2. women - capri's, tank top and light blouse - this way you can ayer and be comfortable while still be presentable for the touring.

men - chino's and a short sleeved shirt

cotton or other breathable fabric is highly recommended.

you might want to take  a hat also.

  3. going to be very hot and crowds at all the sites ,better see the sites in am ( don't eat any place that Say's tourist menu)beware of pick pockets.....

  4. It is very hot in August so you want to dress cool but Italians frown on shorts, tank tops and flip flops - especially when visiting the Vatican.  A lot of women wear skirts to stay cool.  By the way, if you go to the Vatican I suggest joining up with a tour group.  The lines are tremendous but the groups get in first.  Also, if your hotel is close to the Spanish Steps then you should know that there is an elevator.  It may be too hot to climb those stairs.  Have fun.

  5. it's going to be hot, and you'll be doing a lot of walking. if you plan on going in the Colosseum, be prepared to bake in-line for quite some time. another key note, if you plan on going to the Vatican, ladies have to have skirts/dress past their knees or pants and men will need long pants, they will turn you away at the door, I did get in with shorts once but was turned down plenty of other times. I would keep a paif of pants in a back pack and put them on as you approach the entrance.
