Our last stop on the cruise is Rome and we are staying there for one night. I am needing a hotel that is both convient to FCO airport and the city. We have a very early flight the next morning, so ease of getting to the airport is very important. However we would like to see more of the city. We have been to Rome before so we can see some of the not so touristy sights this time...

Any suggestions would be great. For the hotel we are wanted to spend from 200-300 USD.

Thanks!!!

  1. You have to work out your compromise. Staying at the airport will cut down on the time you can spend in Rome in the previous evening.

My personal preference would be to wake up very early and drive out to the airport - get some of that early morning feeling as you leave this famous City.

Here's some links to hotels both in the city area and out near the airport. You can sort the prices, locaion and star rating to have a good idea of what's on offer:

  2. A good accomodation in Rome, also for a nighit, also in center of Rome?      www.SleepInRome.it

I like very much the Sito.

    ciao

  3. i stayed at hotel gladiatori, which is across the street from the colloseum...it's a great spot if you're there for a short time because there are a lot of attractions within walking distance......they also have a rooftop deck with beautiful views!

  4. I can't recommend a specific hotel...  but I can give you a few pointers...

In your planning, remember that the cruise port is not in Rome but in Civitavecchia, about 1 hour by train outside of Rome.  Also, FCO is about 30 minutes by train from Rome.  If you must go back into the city for that night, you may want to stay somewhere near Roma Termini station.  It's not the greatest area, but it is convenient, and relatively inexpensive.  From here, you can also take the Metro or walk (15-30 mins) to some of the tourist areas.

The morning of your flight, you can catch the Leonardo Express trains that take you direct to FCO for €11 per person.  The trains leave every half-hour starting at about 5am or so.  Check www.trenitalia.com for the exact times.  You can also look at trenitalia.com if you need to book train service from Civitavecchia to Roma.  Those trains go for about €7 per person and take about 1 hour.

    Good luck!
