I am going to take a 4-day vacation in Santo Domingo on September. Since it's my first time, can someone please help me give information?

1. My plane is bound to land in Santiago. How can I make it to Santo Domingo? Is there a flight from Santiago to Santo Domingo? or just take the bus? Where? How long is the travel time?

2. What are the top 5 malls that you can recommend in Santo Domingo?

3. What are the top 5 museums that you can recommend in Santo Domingo?

4. What are the top 5 historical sites or churches that you can recommend in Santo Domingo?

5. Which is the best hotel? I mean very close to the mall, downtown and won't trouble in finding transportation.

6. How much is the regular taxi fare? I heard that taxi drivers are like piranhas to tourist because they're adding $30 on foreigners fare.

Thanks in advance.

  1. The airport in Santiago is a bit isolated from the city of Santiago. So You need first to take a taxi to the Bus station of Caribe tours or Metro Tours. From there you take the bus to Santo Domingo. Arrived in Santo Domingo you take a taxi to the hotel Esmeralda, calle Elvira de Mendoza 151 (this hotel is near everything you asked for)

e-mail : alexandra.g@codetel.net.do ask for Eric (Dutch guy).

From there you have all the malls, museums, colonial city, at walking distance. For a cheaper way of traveling in the city ask Eric to put you in contact with a cheaper one (taxi).

The second solution is to hire a private car/driver for the 4 days, who will pick you up at the airport and at the end of your stay he will bring you back to the airport. he will be your guide during those days (speaks your language) For info bout this contact platiniumtrav@codetel.net.do ask for Gilbert.

    Happy to help you

  2. I see that " Happy Feet" has answered already. So no comment to it, he knows what he is talking about.

    Anyway enjoy it!

  3. Just hire a driver/car for your 4 days, it is safer (they drive very strange way) and sometimes this persons can be your guide to.

Enjoy Santo Domingo, day and night it is marvelous!
