I am going to Scotland next May, around the Inverness area, is there anything i should visit?

i have never been to Scotland and will be driving up, and stopping every night somewhere different, my final destination is Inverness, what is interesting on the way?

  1. You will be traveling along Loch Ness, where you can look for interesting creatures.  There is also a castle on the loch, which is open to tourists (for a fee).  Farther south, there is Loch Lomond; you can take a tour boat on the lake and stop for lunch at a hotel on the east side.  If you are interesting in standing stones, you can take the ferry to Lewis (about a 3-hour sail, and not cheap).


  2. I would make a point of visiting Culloden Moor where the English and Scottish Clans duked it out resulting in a lot of dead Scots.  It's a key historical moment in Scottish history.  The small cottage on the site is supposedly the oldest standing "croft" in Scotland.
