  1. Go up Etna and look in. Amazing feeling. Choose a quite day!

  2. Have been 3 times, DON'T wander the back street's alone/after dark - you will be mugged at knife point, I kid you not.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sicily     Its not all bad

  3. you must go to the mountainside town of taramina , you must go to mt.etna.and watch the lava flows  you must go to syracuse to see the ancient ruins

  4. go and see mt Etna plus the whole island is beautiful

  5. mount etna is a must..but remember a jacket..it gets cold up there.....and try and speak a little italian in restaurants even if its just hello and please..otherwise the waiters ignore you...good luck..youl have a fabulous time..

  6. Like all the answers before go up Etna. there is either a cable car or a bus that takes you up there. Or if you are really adventurous you could walk but that can take 3-4 hours up and 3-4 hours down. If you are allowed to try to get as close to the main crater its truly fascinating.

when buying fruit and veg go to the little market type shops and not the supermarkets its loads better.

As for eating out, I don't know what your Italian is like, try to eat in the local restaurants. The house wine, they sell it by 1/2 litre or litre is very good especially the red.

If you are buying red wine look out for Corvo (the crow) it is reasonable and very nice.

If you are driving take great care, one of the most hectic and sometimes dangerous driving styles i have ever seen, and watch out for scooters.

  7. Must See in Sicily:

    Roman mosaics in Villa Armerina

    Temples Valley in Agrigento

    Taormina (beautiful Roman Amphitheatre)

Noto if you like Baroque architecture

    Cefalu

    Siracusa

Monreale and the imperial chapel in Palermo

I've been on a tour there on my honeymoon, seen them all and still remember them fondly
