I am going to a Chinese buffet and need to know what is good for you?

I am in Outer Banks and at 1 or 2 we are going to a Chinese food resturaunt and I am trying to not eat junk any more so please give me your thoughts on what I should take need to know asap thanks 10 easy points

Not a fan of chinese food, but when I do eat it, I only get the foods that are labeled chicken (sweet and sour, general TSO, or chicken wings) and rice, only chicken rice. I'm very picky about their food b/c they are known to serve pretty much anything. I don't eat their shrimp b/c they do not clean them well. If it's not butterflied, I don't eat them. If you butterfly them then that means that they are clean, plus I don't like all that different stuff in my rice. Oh ! their Lein Mein is good also, it's more of a noodle, and you can get that with chicken also.  Good Luck in your choices.

First of all, since you didn't make the food, there's no way to know exactly what's in what you're eating so even dishes that look like they might be good for you, might not be.

If it's exclusively a buffet stick with dishes that have a lot of vegetables.  Look at the dish and see if you see oil in it...if you do, avoid it.

The best way to go though is to get some steamed vegetables with rish, chicken or tofu made fresh with sauce on the side so you can control how much of it you consume.

Don't go to the buffet. Order something that's off the menu. May not be as cheap, but it will be fresh (not sitting around for hours on a warming table), and generally better for you. Also steer clear from anything sauce covered, no sweet and sour anything, that has an amazing amount of sugar in it for something that's not really sweet.

Stir-fried rice noodles are a personal favorite. If you like curry, get the Singapore style, it's seasoned with curry powder not saucy.

My fav. ... Gen Tso's Chicken.  Chicken, vegetables, white rice, semi spicy/sweet, too.
