A good friend and I are having a girls weekend, and would really like to dress up & go glamorous. Will there be others dressed formally, especially on a Friday night show...

  1. With all due respect, this is not like Popcorn night at the cinema.

CODE is relative. Good sense is a notion all should have.

Some level of formality always works. Obviously some are more flamboyant, or more pseudo/formal casual, and are likely regulars to the theater or circuit.

No matter Chicago, or a Beach front "Theater" in Daytona, Proper should equate to leaning to the formal side.

    Just my 2 "scents"

  2. Dress nicely! And I just saw it in LA!

  3. There will be SOME people dressed up, if you wanna get dressed up, get dressed up. WARNING: Most people there will be wearing jeans. It is not a formal event at all.

  4. You'll enjoy it, I think! I saw Chicago Wicked in April of 2007 and, for it being my first time seeing it, I thought it was fantastic. You'll have a lot of fun. : )

I can't remember exactly what I wore-- and all things considered, I did see the matinee performance-- but I DID see two other plays there at night. The standard code for dress at night is usually a cross between casual and dress.

So, whereas a pair of holey jeans would not be okay, a knee-length solid-color dress might work. It really depends on who you ask.

I will say this: There will be people there who will look like they just walked out of a garbage can, and there will be people there who like like they just walked out of Paris Fashion Week. YOU might not see them there, but in all liklihood, they'll be there. As long as you look clean and at least somewhat well put together (and you don't act too rowdy-- that's key) you'll be allowed in.

    Enjoy yourselves!!

I hope that this has helped. : )

    Hayley. : )

  5. I saw that performance in New York City!! It was incredible.

Just wear a nice dress or skirt.

  6. There is no specific dress code.

Just wear something nice, you don't need to be extremely formal. Unless of course you plan on going to a very nice [expensive?] restaurant before or after the show.

Most likely there won't be anyone in formal clothes, more often its dressy casual. But formal is still fine as well, it shows you know this is a serious event, not some trip to the movies.
