I need some suggestions about what kind to bring of all three but not too expensive. For the wine I love yellow Tail and she does too but I'm not sure about the cheese and crackers there will be about ten people there.

  1. Try a California merlot for a change:) ......The brie suggestion below was good, or you could bring a cheese ball (or 2)... water crackers are much better with cheese & wine.  The flavor won't compete with the cheese & wine, like Ritz.

  2. Colby.... Monteray Jack as a white cheese....  Hot pepper cheese for extra flavor, stay with popular choices and everybody will like it.    My favorite cheese is Butter cheese.  And the crackers should be like Brenton (not sure of how to spell it)  but they a larger than the normal cracker.

  3. Ritz crackers, a block of cheddar and a block of jack.  cut the cheese into squares so it can be placed on the crackers.  Lay them all out on a platter and let guests stack their own the way they like it.  Usually summer sausage is added to this mixture.

  4. Manchego cheese with some light water crackers. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchego_ch...

  5. Is it possilbe your friend wants you to bring a cheese with red wine in it?  It is called red wine cheese spread.  I find it in the dairy aisle and comes in either a container or as a ball with or without nuts.  The brand I get is made by Wispride Port Wine Cheddar.

You might want to check with your hostess.

  6. Fontina cheese, and ritz?, i mean if u have a wholefoods they have cheese and the brand 365 crackers assortment YUMMI i had it last night for dinner

  7. Hi,

The dilemma here is what cheese to serve with a red wine?

Many people beleive that red wine is best with cheese and actually there aren't many cheeses that go well with reds.

The cheeses that do go well with reds must be strong and sharp otherwise all you'll taste is the wine and not the cheese.

The other problem is inexpensive. The sharp aged cheeses are very expensive and keep going up because of the rise in dairy prices. However if you must have a red, I would go with a sharp 3 or 4 yr old cheddar or better yet a very sharp provolone from Italy and not the one that you find at the deli counter for sandwiches. If you can find Prima Donna, that would do well but again it isnt cheap.

Reisling is the wine that goes with almost every cheese out there.

Crusty bread goes best with a sharp cheese and red wine.

Now you'd be eating European style! Good luck!

  8. My favorite cheese is brie, which spreads like butter after warming in either the microwave or a toaster oven. Water crackers are the best but you can also use any fresh french bread.
