The wedding is at a church, followed by pre dinner drinks at the reception in the city. It has been a while since going to a wedding and am unsure what they wear to weddings now. I have seen a dress in ivory, but is this colour too close to the Brides clour dress white?

  1. A dress is definitely your best bet. Ivory and white are off-limits, and so is black. You also want to steer clear of anything too flashy.

Try something tailored and modest in a soft fall color, such as medium blue or deep yellow or burgundy.

  2. I worked at Nordstrom and was asked this question many times. It is my suggestion that you wear a dress rather than any pants or pant suits. You should also find out if it's "formal" or "semi formal". The length of the dress goes longer for "formal". The color is only an issue if you make it one. Some women feel it bad to do because it closely resembles the color the bride wears. Some brides wear a white white, others an off white. If we were all honest, most brides have no business wearing white at all. Go shopping for the colors that look good on you. Shop for a cut/style that shapes you and compliments your figure. Buy the one that offers you the highest level of confidence. Don't worry what others think. The color is sometimes considered with regard to season and time of day. It is said that evening can be a darker shade. I have seen plenty of updated material that now allow black to be worn to weddings. Go with what YOU feel comfortable wearing. Buy an appropriate bra, stockings, shoes, small purse, and have a pedicure if you don't wear stockings. If it's hot wear dressy sandals and no stockings. Plan it out first, and don't go broke. You can purchase something practical and buy cheap nice looking jewelry that sparkles in the night light. And remember you can wear a stunning dress and look terrible if you don't wear it with pride, and carry yourself like a lady. Also bring an appropriate wrap if it gets chilly.

  3. Don't wear a white or ivory dress. Stick to a color. Steer away from black - some families are OK with it, some aren't, but you don't want to risk it. Buy a colored knee-length cocktail dress, and bring a wrap or something to cover your shoulders in church.

  4. wear clothes..

get a nice dress that looks nice on you :P be creative

  5. Yes it is too close to the bride, don't do that and embarrassed yourself. Wear anything accept White ,Ivory or anything too close to the bride!

You can wear a nice summer dress not too low cut because its in a church!

  6. Just don't clash with the wedding party.

  7. just dont wear a white wedding dress. someone else might wear that.

  8. Wear a fall color or a color similar to the colors of the wedding party but please stay away from all shades of white/beige.

  9. NO ivory or white

a simple cocktail dress should suffice.

or if all else fails - a simple black dress is always the way to go...accessories make the outfit
