I plan to adopt the three children of my Philipina National Fiance after we marry-I have studied various web pages and dont have a clear answer as to whether or not they can apply for and receive US Social Security Numbers at the US Embassy SS office in Manila after the adoption. I am a USA citizen and I need this in order to apply for SS benifits for them when I retire-any help will be appreciated and any suggestions as to how to speed up the adoption process would be great-thanks

  1. once the adoption is final they should be able to get them. They will be legaly your children.

  2. After they are American Citizens they should be able to get Social Security Cards....

  3. Don't worry about the SSNs until you get them here & the adoption is final.  Once they're legally adopted, they're officially your dependents and you'll be able to apply for cards for them.  Just contact the Social Security office to find out what documentation to bring in.
