yeah hostelworld.com is the best that i know of.

fling pig hostel is in the red light district. i dont know if you were looking for that or not.

I used http://www.venere.com/ukhome/ to find hotels in Amsterdam. I stayed in Hotel Acro and was a reasonable hotel.
