I promised an old indian friend of mine that when he got marrried i would go to the wedding. I had always planned to go India, but for an extended period of time, at this particular time in my life its not possible. i was wondering how much i would get out of a 2 week visit to India, i know Agra should be a must. Please advise.

  1. Actually it would be better to start from the destination of the wedding... No matter which direction you take, India has somethign different to offer to any traveller... Apart from Rajasthan (where Agra is and also Udaipur, Jaipur, jaisalmar), I would recommend you try out South India (Shalimar Spice garden in periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, Munnar and its tea estates, Cochin and shopping  come to mind)... Goa is perfect for a beach holiday.. Up north with Corbett, White water rafting are other options... So it really all depends on where you are starting your journey from and what kind of a holiday you would like - Beach, cultural, adventourous, Nature ... By the way, Catch the movie 'Monsoon Wedding' and depending on whether you lucky or unlucky, the wedding you attending may just turn out to be like this...

  2. Y don't you visit this website and check the cost for a tour but if you want to stay at single place then ask for the cost for that area. check holidayclubindia.net you will get good itineraries with costing.

  3. Golden Temple in Amritsar.  It is the holiest site for all Sikhs.

You may also want to see Bollywood in Mumbai (previously Bombay).

Both places will be a treat!

  4. Well October is a good month for most of north India. If you are starting in Delhi then in 2 weeks you could do the sights of Delhi itself, Agra - for the Taj but try and get in and out in a day - it's possible on the train - I've travelled in India for years and have to say Agra is the worst place for hassle that I have ever experienced but still worth it for the Taj!

My preference would then be a tour of Rajasthan - Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur being my favourite places. It's doable by train / bus but you could also hire a car and driver for around £20 to £30 a day which would get you around faster.
