  1. Load up on steroids and HGH.  Or don't.

  2. take baby steps, just start swimming laps for awhile at first, then work on underwater dolphin kicking if you can kick fast underwater you will have a major head start on the rest of the new kids on the team

  3. It entirely depends on your school, but typically, in at least a somewhat competitive school, a freshman on varsity is going to be a year-round competitive swimmer.  So get swimming.  Supplementary weight or strength training might be good as well, but nothing is more important than the swimming.  Probably at least 10-15 hours a week, preferably with a coached club.

  4. I dont know about your school, but the one that i go to doesnt have an offical "tryout" and all you do to stay on the team is to show up on time and go to all practices.  But if your school doesnt do that sort of thing and has a tryout, the best idea would be to join a city swimteam over the summer usually during the summer they work on your technique for swimming the strokes.

  5. work on stamina, because that is a major thing always in swimming.

also u could try to work on your speed.

but stamina,[being able to cross the swimming pool without getting tired] and being able to float are two key things.

you work on those and you'll make the team for sure.

I hope u make the team!

  6. It depends. How large of a school is it and what kind of success does the team usually have. Our team is so small that we don't have tryouts, we let anyone on. My guess would be that you should go to a YMCA and get instruction on your stroke, and then work on it.
