  1. yes you can, you could do it several times a day, but probably not everytime you change it.

  2. new born babies skin has its own kind of oily lubricant that it produces itself so unless the baby has nappy rash or dry skin for a certain reason there is really no need to put lotion on the baby as it could disrupt the babies natural skin oils

  3. The hospital will tell you to hold off on putting lotion on them for a few weeks. But I started like 3 days after she came home, and everything is fine. I didnt put it on her face or hands , because the face is real sensitive and will cause a breakout(in some babies) and her hands because they go in her mouth. I was told to try lanolin nipple cream on their hands if they get really dry, cus that is safe for babies to have in their mouth. I wouldnt put lotion on their toochie area , especially if its a girl. Can cause yeast infections. I use Johnsons & johnson's Corn Starch for every diaper change smells good, and is sofetr then baby powder.. And I do use California Baby Lotion for Diaper Rashs sometimes on her toochie. Its a safe lotion to apply anywhere. but not hands.

    Good Luck and CONGRATS!!!

  4. I would put lotion on baby right after a bath and once a day.  (babies don't need a bath EVERY day-  they aren't sweating or getting in the mud-  I bathed my daughter every other day or so.)

You can use diaper cream on a newborn's butt- but they don't necessarily need it.
