  1. I'm a senior too and I'm already preparing for applying to college.  Go to https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/defa...

See if any colleges you are planning on applying to use the common app.  If so, you can sign up for it and see the essay prompts on the essay.  I've done this and have already written a couple of possible essays.

As for the SAT, it costs money to send it to more schools at this point, but on your application, you will list your SAT, so the colleges you are applying to will see it.

I am going to apply to 6-8 schools, but that's kinda a lot.  It depends on how much money you want to spend; it costs around $50 per application.  You should apply to at least one school that you are sure you can get into, just in case.

Colleges only look at first semester when deciding  who to accept; however, they can take back acceptances if students slack off, so do not slack off.

Good luck, from a fellow senior!

  2. Most schools have adopted the Common Application in order to make the process easier. What this means is that there is a generic form and number of essays that you only have to complete once. Some schools will add a supplement if they feel it is not enough.

While the Common App opened on July 1st, most college applications open on August 1st. This excludes rolling admissions, meaning your application is accepted whenever you choose to send it in.

As far as submitting your SAT scores goes, simply log onto collegeboard.com and you will find relatively easy to follow instructions.

The number of schools you apply to is really up to you. If you know where you want to go, don't apply everwhere. Generally speaking five schools is considered reasonable. Apply to one "dream school" where you probably won't get in, but would certainly like to. If you really know you want to go there, feel free to apply early decision to increase your chances in most cases. Then choose two to three schools you would be happy at and finally one or two "back-ups" where you're sure to get in. Be careful choosing your back-ups though, make sure you pay just as much attention to them as your reach school.

There's a reason the term "senioritis" was developed. Last semester is not the time to fail, but might be a time to ease up a bit on the studies and relax a little, allow for a break. Don't go overboard, but be sure to appreciate your last months in high school and do all those fun things you never had a chance to.

    Good luck!

  3. First of all, you can go ahead and begin essays, but know that some colleges require certain criteria in those essays. Each college has their own deadline that they will be due..you can check with your guidance counselor or call the admissions office of the college. And I'm not sure if you type the way you do because you don't want to type correctly or if its because you really don't know (Im not being mean im trying to give you advice). Make sure you use Microsoft Word with spell-check and have a teacher or parent read over it for errors in grammar.

You can submit your scores to other colleges by going onto the SAT website.

You should apply to at least two schools usually, sometimes three. Make sure it's a college you actually plan on attending if you do get accepted so not to waste their time and money in sending you college material. Please dont apply to a school you know you won't get into. Most schools require a fee to accompany the application so don't waste your money if you don't plan on going..however if they don't have a fee then why not go for it?

I don't know who in the world told you your last semester didn't count. You can fail in the last semester as easily as you can in the first. The only reason people say that is because usually teachers allow some work to be late during certain periods of time like during the senior trip and during graduation activities, but it doesn't mean you just quit and not do the work..if that was the case then they wouldn't even waste their time having you come to school the last semester.

    good luck.
