  1. Somthing that you can do is do plie releves they help enhance your arch in you foot and strenthin your ankles and your arch in your foot. When you do plie releves you should do then okn one foot alturnating then with both you should do then on each foot for a bout a whole song if you use music. Also when you do these get all the way over your releve but dont hurt yourslef! Hope you do good when you get your point sheos!

  2. okee dokee......you need to do a lot of ankle rolls to stretch out your ankles.   before you do pointe work stretch out your achilles so they don't cramp up....that hurts.  also, when you are in ballet class work on getting up on relevae as high as possible so you can make your feet stronger, and really practice pulling up and working on your balance.

    i hope this helps :)

  3. Hi there,

Going en pointe for the first time may be scary and exciting. Remember to take things slowly and ask a lot of questions. You can get inqured a lot easier then in regular ballet.

    For ankles I suggest:

-Stand on the edge of your stairs so only the balls of your feet are on it and the rest is hanging off. Rise to releve, then lower as low as you can. Do this 50 times two times a day until it's easy. You can add more when you get stronger. Remember to go slowly, it hurts more and works more!

You should prepare yourself for a lot of blood and blisters. Though everyone is different, most people get blisters because your feet aren;t used to the shoe. Make sure you get lamb wool or toe pads or something (as long as it's ok with your studio). I suggest Ouch Pocuhes by Bunheads. They work really well!

Grats on making it to pointe! You may want to look into getting a book called 'The Dancer's Foot Book A Complete Guide to Foot Care.' It tells you everything you need to know about your foot bones, pointe related inquries, ect, ect. Get it for christmas, a birthday, or just get it! I suggest you read through all of it to be familiar with what your foot is doing when you work en pointe, before you go en pointe.

  4. congrats on beginning pointe (or at least almost)! well do as many calf raises as possible (calf raises were explained in dept in twinkle toes' answer)! i also suggest getting a theraband to strenghten ur legs! also do ankle circles. u can also write the alphabet with ur feet (amazing! it helps strenghten ur ankles)!

    good luck! hope i helped!
