I am thinking of stopping in Florence but would like to go somewhere in wine country maybe in between. Any hotel recomendations in Florence or neaby would be good too. Want to stay somewhere a little cooler than downtown or somewhere that has pool.

  2. Hi bahiadave,

Try this comprehensive hotels list in Florence and nearby.

    (Link below).

  3. Venice really only needs 1-2 days to see everything as its compact..its a lovely city (but the side streets are a bit creepy)

Florence is a definate must, its so pretty (but lots of people).

There is quite a bit to do there too and places around to visit.

eg Pisa is close by and town called Lucca is also worth a visit.

I stayed in a little town called Montepulciano, which is a hillside town in the Siena Region....its famous for its wine too apparently (but I didn't know that till I got there).

Its a nice escape and it has great views of the surrounding area.

Siena itself is lovely and is also worth a look....you can take a bus from Siena to Montepuliciano (or the train but you need to take a bus from Chuisi (or something spelt like that).

  4. I would suggest traveling down the coast to Naples where you can catch a ferry to the beautiful island of Ischia.  I stayed there when I was in Italy.  They have beautiful beaches and lots of fun piano bars to go to at night.  I stayed at Poggio Del Sole, they have a fantastic restaurant there.  Definitely one of my favorite parts of my trip.

  5. Don't know your budget but I recommend either the Torre di Bellosguardo Hotel ($$$) close but not downtown. If you wnat not the usual wien country try the Bolgheri on the coast south of Florence.

  6. Tuscany and Emilia Romagna are great regions to visit!

Go to www.Worldby.com and check out their sub-sites for Italy, for accommodation, sights, museums etc.

    Happy Travels!
