  1. weight lifting will help you lose fat in that you will build muscle and muscle burns more calories at rest than fat does, therefore you'll be burning fat!

  2. Weight lifting is great.  Yes, running uses mostly fat as a fuel source, but lifting builds muscle.  More muscle means a higher resting metabolism and you will burn more throughout the day.  Also, you burn about the same amount of calories in the recovery phase of intense weight training as if you ran 30 minutes on the treadmill.  Mix them and you will see results faster.

  3. u dont need to run your brains out or weight lift. try to limit yourself 2 one or 2 sweets a day and exercise 4 30 minutes for like 5 or 4 days. u should start seeing results in 4 to 5 weeks

Doesn't sound fat to me! Are you shore you need to loose weight. At your age your body is going through a lot of changes. Exercise is good, running is good but if you get bored mix it up with some bicycling. Get the right sleep and stay away from fast-food. Eat at home. You will trim down and firm up. Add some weight lifting at home to see if you like that kind of thing before you spend a lot of money. You can lift the garbage cans for the family, take care of the lawn, use the vacuum - it ain't as easy as it looks. Try washing the car and waxing it - great for arms and hands!

  5. weight lifting is going to help you gain muscle which will make you keep more weight on but your body will look better. If you run all you are going to do is lose the fat. I would recommend working out and running a mile everyday even if you only run a lil bit at a time.
