I want like a v6 or v8 and something I can put an exhaust system on and make it sound nice. I thought about getting a truck but gas prices are too high. So please leave me with your ideas thanks.

  1. Don't rule out 4 cyl. cars esp. with gas prices so high.  There are probably more options for modifying a 4 cylinder engine then other engines.  Take a look at the Acura TSX.  4 cylinder car that gets over 200 hp and upper 20's for gas mileage.  You can easily modify a Civic, Mazda 3, Sentra, even a Corolla.

  2. Something with an amazing exhaust note even without aftermarket parts is the BMW 3-Series. Like every other BMW, the exhaust note is deep and kind of sounds like the bass in a radio. With this said, people I know that own one get around 28MPG. The regular 328i or xi (xi means AWD), has a standard 230HP which is adequate for it's class, but the 335i or xi with 300HP is bad@$$. The coupe model (comes in convertible, wagon, sedan, or coupe) can do 0-60MPH in 4.8 Seconds. Another amazing thing with this car is the agility, and brakes, and the accuracy of the steering. New or used, this car is worth a definite look.

  4. It depends on what you want, new or used.  Although some 4 bangers are fast, i don't want one either, they just don't have a good sound.  Any v8 with an exhaust upgrade will sound great.  Forget about gas mileage if you want a fast car.  Even a 4 banger that's fast doesn't get good mileage.  Look at the 300 hp 4cyl subaru sti, it only gets 17/23.  Even a good 6cyl turbo can do better than that.  BMW 335xi is rated 17/25.  And some v8's are better, Dodge Charger r/t v8 340 hp is rated 17/25.

My pick for a car is the BMW 335i coupe, rated at 17/26, this thing is very fast, tested 0-60 in 4.8, while the sti ran 4.9.  The only thing you get out of a 4 banger is lower price.

  5. I guess you should also check insurance quotes for the car before buying one, for example here: http://carinsurance.enacre.net

Such a sporty car costs a lot to insure.

  6. What's the problem with a four cylinder? Audi & Subaru don't seem to have a problem in getting 300bhp & 30mpg out of them..

  7. You don't have to have a v6 or v8 to have a fast car!  I bought an honda civic si.  It is a 6 speed and has a bad azz engine in it and is only a four cylinder. It is very pretty too.  It's black looking but is realy a metallic midnight blue that appears black and has black suede interior. It also has controls on the steering wheel, xm radio, mp3, gps, and is all electric. It will haul azz and gets great gas mileage!  anywhere from 40-47 miles per gallon.  Gas here is 3.89 a gallon and I filled up yesterday and showed no bars for gas, running on fumes, and it cost me almost 45.00 to fill up.  I love my car!  It saves me $ on gas, and is very easy to manuvor and has losts of power.  It jumps to 100 miles per hr.  in seconds!  I has so much power that I can catch rubber in the first 4 gears easy.  These cars were made for racing and as I said I love my car!  You should go and test drive one and you'll see what I mean.

  8. Fast cars and gas mileage don't fit in the same sentence. You'll have to make a choice.
