I have a phone socket in an inconvenient place but I can use it. It will have a filter as I have broadband.

  1. It probably will.

Test it to make sure.  Take the phone to the garden where you plan to be most of the time.  Make an outgoing call from the cordless handset.  If you get dial-tone, and if you make a successful outgoing call, then the handset will certainly be able to ring for an incoming call.

  2. Yes.  It will work for much further than that.

  3. This is hard to answer.  Signal weakens with distance.  Signal weakens as it has to pass through dense material like masonry, brick, metal (silver backing on mirrors, ducts, etc).

The 20 yards is not the issue as this is not that great of a distance; the issue is what is in the walls through which the signal must pass.

  4. read the pkg some have greater range than others but it should reach

  5. Most likely, it will sound very noisy, is best to get the base as close to a window as possible or get an outside antenna, they sell the someplace in eBay

  6. Buy a Uniden phone and you won't regret it. As for your general issue, the manufacturer's range on the box isn't trustworthy. A lot depends on how much building and interference is between you and the base unit. So the older technologies actually offer better range and building penetration. 27 MHz better than 900 MHz which is better than 2.4 Ghz which is better than 5.8 Ghz. The trade off is that the newer stuff offers greater security encryption and channels to avoid conflicts with neighbors.

  7. yes it will ring as long as the product says it has good range
