I am going to buy macbook in japan, will i be able to use it in uk?

i am refering to the electrical system (plugs, voltage, etc), which i think is different from the english one.

  1. yes but you will need an adapter to plug it into the electrical mains


  2. Apple sells the traveler's adapter kit and you'll need that as the plug is different. It lets you switch out the plug. The voltage etc is not an issue because big electronics products like these are built to handle the various scenarios of the world, that's why the adapter kit just changes the plug.

    The thing to consider is why buy it in Japan when you could buy it in the UK. If you want Japanese on it, Macs come with multiple languages already, you just have to enable it. I don't know the details on the education discount for Japan and UK but if you are a student or know a student/staff/teacher, consider having them buy it for you so you get it cheaper. Then there is the warranty issue. It's going to be valid for Japan only I believe. So if you buy it in Japan and go to the UK right away, I don't know if Apple UK can help. The only thing beneficial I can think of is the DVD region is the same so you won't have to switch it. Plus, it's slightly cheaper in Japan than UK.

  3. the macbook will work, but only if you buy certain adaptors and plug teeth and things.
