we are going to cancun in may and i have no clue on what to see and what are the kids friendly places. me and my husbad love water parks, swimming with dolphins which we already did in discovery cove orlando. now with the baby i guess we can't go snorkeling or scuba diving etc. do they have babysitters at the hotels? can i trust a mexican babysitter, i never left my baby with anybody before but his dad so i think there is no way i can do it in cancun. i am hoping my father in law in his wife join us and they can babysit for us.

anyway please tell em what are the must see places to go to

ps: we don't drink so no clubs

thanks

  1. I must be honest coming to Cancun with a baby is not the wisest. Even with sunscreen the sun is very, very intense and can burn a baby's skin very quickly. Make sure you have sunglasses for the tike, a hat and the highest sunscreen for children you can find.

Most of the hotels offer babysitting service for an extra charge and are trustworthy with your child.

Tons of things to do with baby in a stroller. Xcaret (Ish k ret) is an all day, all inclusive park. With places to snorkel, swim in cenotes (underground rivers), butterflies, great food, folk dances, etc.  Xel-ha (Shell ha), Isla Mujeres and so much more.

Hope you have a great vacation and I also hope that your built in baby sitter can come with you...

  2. A must do is Xcaret. A fun day. Check out this site

    http://www.xcaret.com

Bring a stroller, hat and plenty of sunscreen for the baby.

I'm sure the resort can recommend someone to babysit your child for a couple of hours.

We were in Cancun in May and we saw many families with small children. You and your husband will need to take turns if the in-laws can't come.

    have fun and enjoy)

  3. Xel Ha ( pron. Shell-Ha) is about an 1.5 hours drive south.  it's the big water park where you snorkel, swim with dolphins and a bunch of other things.  it's pretty popular.  but there are many places off the coast that offer great snorkeling trips.

  4. Please check out Xcaret, a wonderful water park south of Cancun you will love it... unbelievable place, just be prepared to spend an entire day there, it is worth it. Yes, you can go snorkeling, there a lot of dive places which arrange snorkeling trips in shallow reef areas for beginners. Wear a t-shirt if you do so you don't burn your back. A definite blast, you will see a different world...You can even go scuba diving if you wish. Most places offer what are called "resort courses".You take lessons with the instructor one day in the hotel pool and the next day they take you on shallow SCUBA trip.  You can leave your child with a babysitter. Yes, you definitely can trust the babysitters there, hotel will provide a lady who will take care of your child. They are very nice and kind ladies who will really care for your child as for their own.

Avoid trips to Isla Mujeres (Island of the Women) a tourist trap and a waste of your time. A trip to the Mayan pyramids is very highly recommended (it will take all day, but definitely worth it).

Shopping is good and silver (jewellery) goods are very reasonably priced, but you MUST bargain. Leather goods are also good. Avoid malls frequented by tourists. Don't know where you will be staying but a trp to Playa del Carmen (south of Cancun) is worth your time shopping-wise. If you still have time take a ferry from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel (an island off Yucatan Peninsula), beautiful place. Please ask if your hotel has privileges with a hotel on Cozumel. You may be able to get free meals while there. Cozumel is a national park and home to some of the best snorkeling/diving places in the world.

Enjoy your trip. Oh, please take with you a very good WATERPROOF sunblock, and don't forget to put it on top of your feet, the sun there is fierce and getting blistered on the first day can spoil your vacation. While you can buy sunblock over there it is much more expensive.
