  1. sandwich making is not really that exciting to begin with...try doing some funny things in the demo...like following the directions literally...or asking the kids for directions (shows them they need to be specific)...you could also get some unique cold cuts and tell them it is some weird animal...

  2. have mini things....kids think they are cute. cut out mini sandwhich buns, meat (if you are using meat) cheese, etc. you could even cut the bread and stuff out into cool shapes.

  3. I'm not sure to what age of elementary students you are demonstrating this, but here goes.  Start with a topic for a paragraph or a story...for example...Our class went on a great trip to the museum. Say this is what our paragraph is all about and place the bottom slice of bread (or bun down).  Then add another sentence about what you did there and add something else to your sandwich.  Each part of the sandwich represents and idea.  You can make up a story and use the sandwich parts for events in the story.  Read a short children's book and let each part of the sandwich represent an event from the story.

  4. You should do it with a song!!  First comes the bread- wheat! Then comes the meat-turkey! Then comes cheese, bum bum bum! Cheddar or swiss.. bum bum! The vegetables! vegetables!! Hope you liked it. :D
