I was thinking about Psalm 23, but I know of other people who have that and I want to be original.

Do you have any ideas?

Please note, I generally use the New American Bible.

Thanks in advance to all who answer my question!

  1. Why dont you read the bible first and then decide. That would give you a perfect opportunity  to find the best one.

  2. Psalm 27

  3. Leviticus 19:28 "And you must not make cuts in your flesh for a deceased soul, and you must not put tattoo marking upon yourselves, I am Jehovah."

  4. My Favorite is

    "Jesus Wept"

  5. forget the bible get a tatoo of this

    http://images.google.com/images?q=khanda...

  6. Something with some fire and brimstone might be exciting. You know, considering your avatar is Bush.

  7. How about "I do not worship idols made with hands (such as crosses and tattoos), but the living God, that created heaven and earth"?

  8. 2:9 "I KNOW YOUR WORKS, AND TRIBULATION AND POVERTY, (BUT YOU ARE RICH) AND I KNOW THE BLASPHEMY OF THEM WHICH SAY THEY ARE Ysrayl (Israel) AND ARE NOT, BUT ARE THE SYNAGOGUE OF SATAN

  9. "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD."

    Leviticus 19:28

    Or is that too long? :P

  10. how about this?

    you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

    MAT 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

  11. jesus wept

  12. How about the one forbidding tattoos?

    It's in the old testament and doesn't really apply today (new testament means new rules), but it's be amusing at least. :)

  13. "Jesus wept"

    because i'm sure he would if he saw you.

  14. how about the second commandment?

  15. I would think you want something fairly short but with meaning.

    You could always just have the Book chapter and verse only.

  16. Or you can have "There's no love, like love from God", "God is LOVE."

    "My savior, and father."

  17. How about John 15:7.  That's the one I would choose.  "If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you will ask what you will and it will be done unto you."  (This is KJV)

  18. How about this one:

    Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed.  (Exodus 22:19 NAB)

  19. Why don't you tattoo Bush's face under the numbers 666?

  20. How about Lizard 3 verse 19 - Every christian is entitled to make an @ss of himself as long as it doesn't effect others in a negative fashion .

    Please say you are going to get it on your butt .

  21. "And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."

    Isaiah 2:4

    But that might not go well with you being Republican and all.

  22. "Behold, I will corrupt your seed and spread dung on thy faces."

  23. I would go with Ezekiel 25:17

  24. Song of Songs 4:6 "Until the cool of the day When the shadows flee away, I will go my way to the mountain of myrrh And to the hill of frankincense."

    .........

    Romans 8:18-23 "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."

    .........

    1 Corinthians: If I speak in human and angelic tongues but do not have love, I am a resounding gong or a clashing cymbal.

    And if I have the gift of prophecy and comprehend all mysteries and all knowledge; if I have all faith so as to move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing.

    If I give away everything I own, and if I hand my body over so that I may boast but do not have love, I gain nothing.

    ........

    So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

    ..........

    Proverbs 22:24-25 - Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, or you will learn his ways and find a snare for yourself.

  25. Don't do it. Your body is the temple of God, King David said

    " write your word in my heart, that I may not sin against you"

    The word of God needs to be written in our hearts not in our body.

    Prov. 3:3 Write them up on the table of your heart.

    Lev 19:28 PLEASE READ THIS ONE FOR YOURSELF

  26. I don't know too many in depth things about the bible. But i DO know that it should say something that means a lot to you, or represents you. Find a small topic you want it to be about then find a verse that corresponds with it. Ex. If you hate when people lie and lying got you somewhere bad in life do one of the commandments about lying, I mean the possibilities are pretty much endless. It's a pretty bad example but i hope you know what it means now.

  27. As Samwise Gamgee stated:  There's some things in this world that are worth fightn' for....

    (KJV) Psalm 144:1  Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:

    (ASV) Psa 144:1  A Psalm of David. Blessed be Jehovah my rock, Who teacheth my hands to war, And my fingers to fight:

    I'd just put "Psalm 144:1"....this might actually be the key to ANY scripture you select...just tattoo the reference.

  28. here are some of my favorite form Psalm 119  English Standard Version

    Psalm 119

    18Open my eyes, that I may behold

       wondrous things out of your law.

    6 Incline my heart to your testimonies,

       and not to selfish gain!

    32I will run in the way of your commandments

       when you enlarge my heart!

    92 If your law had not been my delight,

           I would have perished in my affliction.

    130The unfolding of your words gives light;

       it imparts understanding to the simple.

    149Hear my voice according to your steadfast love;

       O LORD, according to your justice give me life.

  29. My personal favorite is "Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed." Another one of my favorites is "Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death" My the Lord God strike down ALL of our enemies, in Jesus's name I pray. AMEN!

  30. "And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead." (Exodus 12:29-30)

    If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,

    And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;

    Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

    Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.

    And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.

    If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;

    Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;

    Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:

    But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

    -Deuteronomy 13

    "Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ***." (I Samuel 15:2-3)

    "Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD. Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves." (Numbers 31:16-18)

    "Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished." (Isaiah 13:15-16)

    "And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain." (Deuteronomy 2:34)

    "And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Hesbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city. But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities we took for a prey to ourselves." (Deuteronomy 3:6-7)

    "And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and woman: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house." (Ezekiel 9:5-6)

    "The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance. He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked." (Psalms 58:10)

    The Bible is such a fun book!

  31. Since you're using a cross, don't you think it'd be appropriate to use Jesus' words?

    "So this is my law for you: Have love one for another."

    "By this it will be clear to all men that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another"

    Jesus gave His flock one commandment, and it's in a few places in the book of John.  Here's the link where I got it from, you can click the different Bibles and get the different wordings.  The ones I listed above are from the Bible in Basic English.
