  1. Cannot comment of the Canon.  Have owned Nikons for years, and have had no issues with them: the ability to use older lenses is a big bonus, especially if you prefer manual focus.

Currently have a D300, a D# and am spending some time with a D700.  I also have several Nikon film cameras: which still get occasional use.

  2. I have the Nikon D60 and it is amazing.

My sister has the Cannon Rebel XTi, and I think it is equal in comparison.

The biggest thing is LENSES though.

If you're looking to save money, lenses that are compatible with Nikon are cheaper than Canon lenses.

Lens quality is seriously what will make the huge difference in your landscapes and close ups. Both cameras will do the job GREATLY, but, the lens quality is what varies.

  3. XSi is the biggest bang for the buck out there great deal and very good features for a 12.1 Mega PixeL DSLR.  Only diff is u can't use the old A-1 bayonet cannon lens mounts.  The Nikon allows you to use your old lenses.  For instance if you had an old F-3 film SLR

  4. I have the Canon XTi and it is a great camera.  It has been a very popular model.   You wouldn't go wrong with this camera!

But you should go to a good camera store and try out these cameras.  Hold them in your hands and see  how easy it is to reach the controls.  You will know the right one for you when you handle them.

I have a Nikon D60, bought 3 months ago after comparing and studying Nikon D40,D40X and Canon 350D and 400D.

Nikon D40 and D40X may be cheaper compared to D60. But I enjoy my D60 more than my friends who use D40X and D40. :-)

But its hard to find which camera picture quality is better. Still I have found D60 wonderfully performing in many situation when comparing others.

So as a personal user and from your choices I recommend you Nikon D60. :-)

I own a Nikon D60 and have used Rebel to compare my pics. It was as hard as it was to find the differences as they were shot with exact same settings. The other thng to say about Nikon D60 is the user friendly menus and button and the Nikon body.

So altogether Nikon is best were as picture quality Nikon and Canon stands one to one for me. :-)
