Should I wait? Will it still be ok to get them fitted now...and will they have the same effectivness when I loose it all. Or should I just wait till the very end and then get it done?

  1. First off congrats for the weight loss program!

Your weight will not have much to do with custom fitting your equipment unless it affects how you have to hold the club at address and contact.  The lie angle and length of the lcub has to do with your height, stance and arm length.

    Good luck!

  2. no b/c weight has nothing to go with clubs it is all the hight and arm

  3. I agree with Mike. Your swing and stance will likely change when you lose the weight. Your swing speed could increase too. You may very well need to have the clubs completely re-shafted once you lose the weight.

If you're going to lose the weight relatively quickly and have a set you play ok with now you may want to stick with them for now. If it's going to take you 2 years to get the weight off, you could go ahead and get the new clubs then just have them re-shafted when you get to your goal weight.

Congratulations and good luck with the weight loss.

  4. As an overweight PGA professional, I must disagree with the other answerers.  Your significant weight loss will change a lot about your swing.  I'm also going to guess that you have increased strength and mobility with the loss of weight.

I think that you should reward yourself with a new set of custom clubs now, and also when you lose the rest of the weight.  Many manufacturers will adjust your clubs for a nominal fee.  Callaway & Titleist come to mind immediately.

Congrats on the weight loss.  I am 8 lbs into losing 50 lbs.
