i took drivers ed in the fall, and passed my behind the wheel and written test.

i just had my birthday, so i'm looking forward to getting my license soon.

when i go to the DMV, do i have to take the behind the wheel test or the written test over again?

i would just like to be prepared.

this is in IL by the way.

  1. The DMV has their own behind-the-wheel test to get your license.

This generally consists of parallel parking, a 3-point-turn, and basic driving situations, such as making turns, stopping, and backing up.

Just be sure to stop at each stop sign at least 4-5 seconds, look both ways 2-3 times, and use your turn signals for EVERYTHING and you will do fine. I got 100% first shot on mine, trust me, it is a walk in the park.

  2. only have to retake ur written if you failed or if ur permit expired

  3. you should be able to just bring a certificate from your drivers ed class saying that you passed the drivers test. that is what i did, but they still made me take the written test, but its no biggie.
