  1. After watching that programme the other night, then if you were a true animal lover, you wouldn't be wanting a puppy with papers! Go and get a dog from an animal rescue centre instead of lining somebody's pockets for an inbred breed that's going to have a high chance of health problems, some of which are very distressing and lead to the poor dog being put to sleep.

  2. The breeder should give you an original copy of the famioy tree certificate which gives details of the parents, grandparents etc. with their Kennel Club (or AKC if you are in USA) registration numbers.  You should also get the signed KC (or AKC) Registration certificate proving that the puppy has been registered. You should also ensure you have details of what vaccinations the puppy has had and needs in future.  A good breeder will also give you a brief guide on how to feed your puppy and general care hints.  Hope you enjoy the new member of your family.

  3. If you have bought from a reputable breeder, you would have seen the pups with their siblings and mum.  I got my KC registered documents, a massive bag of puppy food and six months free Pet Plan insurance.  The breeder should advise you on what to feed him and when - make sure he has had all his injections - you should get documentation for this too.

A reputable breeder will be VERY interested in the welfare of the pup and will be happy to answer any questions you have - and give you their contact details should you have any immediate problems once you have taken your pup home.

Good luck - I would love another pup but I have to be happy with the little man I have!

  4. newspaper lots of????????

  5. make sure your puppy papers are originals, no copies and be sure to get them signed by the seller of your puppy

do you know if your puppy is register AKC or CKC, etc?

  6. Did they say that the puppy is registered? If it is a registered dog, you should receive the registration papers for the dog. It will state what breed the dog is, the registration numbers for both the parents and the breeders info. Call the registry to make sure that they are real papers

  7. Dogs dont get "birth certificates"

First, if you've researched the breeder, and its a reputable breeder.. you will not be getting fake or falsified papers.  That's really the ONLY way to guarantee that you are getting true papers.

Does this breeder show her dogs and earn CH or working titles on them?

Does she do genetic health tests?  OFA, CERF, BAER, Optigen, PennHip?

  8. Good-

    AKC- American Kennel Club

    CKC- Canadian kennel Club

I'm not sure of the ones in the Uk and other countries   but these are good

    BAd-

CKC -contenental Kennel club  (You just might end up with a mutt.  they don't even require a photo of said registered dog they take your word for it.    Chances are back yard breeder if the dog is registered through contenental.)

    USDA- Puppy Mill (most likely)

  9. If it's a pedigree you should get all the papers including the dogs family tree, kennel club membership, proof of jabs and/or worming.

Make sure you know what the breed of dog is actually supposed to look like aswell, my cousin got sold a dog as a pedigree beagle at full price when it was a crossbreed.

Make sure the breeder takes you to see the dog's parents too, because if they are healthy then the puppy is likely to be.

    Xx

  10. Only an irresponsible person would *BUY* a puppy. The *responsible* thing to do would be to go down to your local shelter and *rescue* one. It's thanks to irresponsible people, such as yourself, that there are so many dogs still in kennels.

  11. what breed of puppy and where are you getting it from?

  12. buy a mungrel a pedigree will prob have a skull to small for its brain or something. inbreeding b£$%**ds.

  13. get  it the sun  the sport  and star

  14. Why do you need papers?  Do you intend to show the dog or breed from it? If the answer is no then what purpose do these papers serve other than to inflate the price of the puppy. I have 2 dogs one Labrador and one Bullmastiff both beautiful healthy dogs neither of which are registered with the Kennel Club and it makes no difference to them whatsoever. The important thing is to get a healthy happy pup, not one with the right credentials. Dont forget dogs from breeders regstered with the KC often have inherited health problems due to the closeness of their breeding relations (father daughter or brother sister) The BBC are debating whether or not to show Crufts in the future due to the poor ethical treatment of dogs by some members of the Kennel Club.

My advice is buy a healthy happy puppy you can love and care for the paperwork is not important.

    Enjoy your new dog.

  15. As you areasking this on the UK board, I assume mean KC registration papers.

This site will give you all the information you need.

    http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/427

If you have any doubt about the papers being genuine, you can always ring the KC & check that the puppies have been registered.

If you don't get the documents when you pay for the pup make sure you get a statement in writing that the pup will be KC Registered.

  16. The Daily Telegraph. He'll like that. Only half the stories are fake (Unlike The Sun where they make everything up)

  17. The ONLY pedigree worth anything is AKC registration.

The breeder should give you an application with the pups sire and dam's AKC registration on it and everything filled in for her part.
