I am going to lebanon and i want to dress modestly, what should i shop for?

i am going to lebanon with my family to visit some relatives. they are very orthodox

i want to show my respect (and not get attacked by a mob) but i don't know the line between respectful modesty and over-doing it.

can i wear t-shirts?

how short can skirts and shorts be?

help.?

you can wear any thing you want to wear believe me

no one cares there

but just look like a normal person

and you won't be ashamed

and wear the things you like

nothing against Lebanon

they are very good people

Well I can understand your concern ....when I was there recently I wore shorts & nearly caused a riot !  

Maybe it wasn't the shorts so much as  my hairy legs !

Don't mind Aussie, in Lebanon, shorts are not for men!

Especially old ones!

You can wear what you like, as long as it covers your b***s and your butt

I lived in Beirut for 2 years and honestly, you don't need to dress as modestly as you think. I was trying to be conservative when I went there and learned that the women there dressed far more stylish than I expected - short skirts, low cut tops, all the above.

I'd be as modest over there as you would be if you were trying to be a modest person in America. I will say that they do not dress down a whole lot, so t-shirts and jeans unless they are quite fancy are a little too casual for a woman. I would wear a nice top and pants or a nice dress instead.

And save some money for shopping because they have some fabulous designer stores over there! =)

you can wear anything you want as long as it's not provocative...so shop for ordinary clothes like tshirts or tank tops and bermudas or jeans or knee high skirts...but when you come I think you will see for yourself that the Lebanese dress like they do in your country, well most of them
