  1. The passport is a federal goverment official ID document, mostly used for traveling.  Definitely it is better than a local state driving license.  Sure you can use the passport (if not expired).


  2. You need your passport to fly into PR or sea travel into PR anways.  I know we did when we went there for our cruise.  We had to fly there for our cruise and then when the cruise was over and we got off in PR they asked us for our passports.  We had to have them to get back into the US.

  3. To enter back to the United States they will ask you to show your passport.  That is the only way to enter the country.
