  1. Go to see the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain.  Also go to non tourist areas, sometimes that is where you will discover the most interesting things.

  2. Look for a TRATTORIA o HOSTERIA, they are like Restaurant, but cheaper, no fancy and with good Rome’s food. I avoid “tourist restaurants” when I’m visiting another country.

If the breakfast isn’t include in your hotel, get a Bar, and ask for Caffe’ or Cappucino with Cornetto (crossaint), we do breakfast standing. You don’t have to say espresso, just caffe’, if they are too strong for your taste try Latte Macchiato (hot milk with few coffee), some bar have the American coffee (Caffe’ Americano).

There is no PEPPERONI PIZZA in Italy (I love it here), you’ll find a Margherita (the classical tomatoes and real mozzarella) or others.

Don’t eat Spaghetti alla BOLOGNESE this pasta doesn’t exist, it’s just for tourists. At the end you’ll find some dishes typical from Rome.

FISH DINNER NEAR TO: Campo de’ Fiori

If you like fish and beams, this is the “Coney Island” of Rome, very, very un-fancy.

    Dar Filettaro

    Largo Librai 88

    Rome (Italy)

    (06) 686-4018

LUNCH NEAR TO: Piazza Navona, Campo de Fiori

    Cul de Sac

    Piazza Pasquino, 73

    Rome , 00186

ALMOST AN ICE CREAM :NEAR PANTHEON

Fiocco di Neve (Via del Pantheon 51, Pantheon)

Take a break during the morning and ask here for a granita di caffè con panna (coffee ice slush with cream) as well as gelato. Delicious, unique. You’ll love it if you like coffee. Better then Starbuck’s Frappucino.

    Some food

    Apetizer

    Mozzarella di Bufala

    Caprese (tomatoes and Mozzarella)

    Pasta

Spaghetti alla Carbonara (eggs and bacon)

    Penne all’Arrabbiata (very hot)

Spaghetti o Maccheroni  Cacio e Pepe (Cheese and Pepper)

    Bucatini all’Amatriciana (tomato and bacon)

Fettucine ai Funghi Porcini (not from Rome but very good)

Maccheroni con la Pajata (hard to find)

    Meat and sides

    Abbacchio o Castrato (Lamb)

    Carciofi alla Giudia (artchoke)

Saltinbocca alla Romana (meat with bacon very good)

Trippa alla Romana (interior of the cow)

Fagioli con le cotiche (beams with boiled pork’s skin)

    Vegetables

Cicoria in padella (poor vegetables but  I can eat a lot)

Puntarelle con le alici (A friend of mine asked about them from Spain)

Pinzimonio al pepe (try it...sound like your cole salad)

    Cakes

    Tiramisu’ (delicious)

    Panna Cotta (I love it)

    After Lunch/Dinner we drink as…….digestive

Grappa very (alcolic, dry, but people love from all the world)

Amaro (that’s my favorite when you eat a lot, buy a bottle in a supermarket)

    Limoncello (everybody knows it)

  3. Best tip - take lots of money cos its expensive.

  4. The Vatican and Pizza !!!

  5. look at my list of place!

    ciao

    Alessandro

  6. lasagna!! and pizza!!! OMG!! can I go with you?

  7. Well, you should see the obvious ones, like the trevi fountain, the vatican and the colliseum,if you get stuck for time I'd give the Spanish steps a miss although all the designer shops are just down a side street from there, its pretty unspectacular.

It can be quite expensive to eat out,but we found some lovely little pizza cafes near the Trevi, also you must eat at least once at the Hard Rock Cafe, the food was great.

The best tip I can give you is to watch out for the pickpockets,we had our bags stolen within an hour of arriving in Rome,so just be careful and dont let it spoil things for you, maybe use a bum bag or a wallet belt, above all have a fantastic time,I know you will.

  8. The Trevi fountain and throw your coin in for luck.

Vatican maybe, even if your not religious it is still amazing and you can't not go to the collosseum.

Have fun just beware they all smoke and its as said before it is expensive.
