School just started last week and i have already had so many problems. All my classes are on-line. The reason i want to drop them all and just take a semester off is a very long story, but basically i am so far behind already. I don't want to email every single teacher and tell them my problem because it is nothing they can help me with. I just think right now is not a good time for me to be in school, i cant focus and do well at the moment. I do plan on going back next semester. Has anyone on here ever been in this situation and can you give me some advice as to what i should expect when going to drop my classes. Please i need some advice, thanks to anyone who can help.

  1. I'd say tough it through. If you take a semester off, there's a pretty good chance that'll turn into a year. And then, you may never go back. If you're far behind, maybe you should thinking of transfering to a school that isn't online. It's easier communicating with the professors and there will be plenty of people there are to help. Or going to community college, at least you'll be doing something.

Just don't chance it. I've seen it happen too many times. Getting pregnant or landing a "good" job while you're out are just two out of the countless things that could make you change your mind about going back. It's only been a week. Give it a chance, or like i said, transfer to a community college for a while, then give college or university another try.

  2. I'm in the same situation. **** all these people who say you wont go back. If we want to take a semester off, then let us do it. we will all do things in our on time. Me personally I'm not ready for college, I don't feel grown up enough. Yes i have to get a job now and pay rent to my parents but its what i need to do. If YOU feel like you need to take the semester off, do it. this is YOUR life not theirs. You will go to college if you want too, forget what the "statistics" say. Do what you need to do to be happy. Good luck. You can email me if you want. Best wishes again.

  3. im in the same situation right now,but i decided to take this semester off and go in january,if you feel its not the right time then dont go this semester you dont want to take a chance and do something your not ready for and end up failing right?take a semester off but dont get lazy after awhile and not go at all, make sure next semester you choose the classes without doin it online,so it would be easier to get help

  4. Chances are you won't go back.  The statistics are very high in that regard.  What will you do when you leave?  Where will you live?  Will you have a job/income?  Remember that quitting now might be a life changing if not career changing decision.  Plus, it will delay your graduation date, putting your life on hold.  Please do talk to your instructors.  They handle these issues all of the time and can find ways to help you.  I hope you stay in it.  Believe me, you are not the only student in this situation.

  5. Be sure to officially drop the courses and contact the teachers. Just send a short note. Give the details that you want to give. I had to drop courses once and later I took those courses and many more.  Find something useful for your time until you can begin school gain.
