I was just given tickets for the Pocono Race this Sunday in Long Pond, PA. I don't know anything about the raceway.. Anything will help...

Gates open at 9, race at 2...what time should we get there to experience everything?

Where can I get autographs?

What is the best place to eat?

Is there a lot of parking? Tailgating?

How are the seats..facing the sun?

Anything will help!!!

Thank you!

  1. Looks as if you have got some good info thus far, but be sure to drink plenty of liquids, you will see people falling out from the heat, so be sure to stay hydrated.

  2. I'll see you there. I suggest going early and parking there is a nightmare. As far as autographs, without a garage or pit pass, you will not get an opportunity unless they set up a signing at one of the sponsor trailers. There is food at the track but it is expensive so I suggest going to a local fast food joint. Last time I went it was extremely overcast so I couldn't even tell you where the sun is. lol

  3. Don't go.... save yourself...  It if is that boring on TV, it must sheer torture in person..... arrrrrrgggghhhhh

  4. Make sure you bring alot of things to do to keep you busy after the race. Hang out for like 3-4 hours after the race. The traffic is terrible!!

theres like one road to the track and they block it off and make everyone go one way after. Our hotel room was no joke 3 min away from the track (4 hours to get back) the road blocks sent everyone everywhere but the right direction.

if you need any info.....ask a fan, because everyone who works there doesnt know their @ss from their elbow.

  5. best way to get all the action info is their website..

    www.poconoraceway.com

Enjoy and have a GREAT time!!!

  6. I suggest taking extra tires...

  7. Take a grill or atleast some food for after the race. I went 3 years ago and it took us 3 hours to get out of the parking lot. The same two lane road you go in on is the same two lane road everyone leaves on. Otherwise not too bad. Enjoy the race.

  8. ya pocono is one of the most boring races for the cup its a big track bring binoculars for sure and pray it dont rain i was at a race we slept in car for 3 days before they raced we were parked on the smaller track inside the big one thank god we was up in the turn cause all the cars and crews eqiupment was under water race day if you was smart you would be there like 2 or 3 am and beet most of the traffic you could nap while your waiting or do like most fans and tailgate  have fun if you have a pocket radio it would be wise to bring it with a ear plug so you can listen to thr race  to heare whats going on

  9. edit

Pocono Raceway is my hometown Track. Get there early because Rt. 115 gets very congested. They turn it into a 1 way traffic. Autographs you may catch a driver at his souvenir trailer. But other than that you won't see them. Bring a packed lunch. Food is extremely high. Bathrooms... Pocono Raceway has the longest bathroom it is 1/2 miles long so there is plenty of restrooms available.  Sundays Forecast looks to be Sunny and only a 10% overcast. So bring Sunscreen. People do tailgate they set tents up and BBQ. So you can tailgate. Get to your seat 30 mins before Pre-race festivities begin. Bring Ear Plugs if you want (Optional)

After the race traffic is extremely bad. If you are staying after check out Nick's Lakehouse or Shenanigans. Great Resturants.

  10. Get there early. There are tons of things to do at any race track. there is shopping, food and just the experience alone is awesome. Pocono raceway is really good with the traffic. All roads are shut down and everyone goes in and then when its over everyone goes out.

Autographs you will have to check the raceway site. Sometimes the drivers will go into their souvenir trailers and sign stuff.

They have food all over but I recommend tailgating. Its all your own food and there is tailgating and parking all over.

Seats are ok. Pocono isn't my favorite track. I went like 13 years ago and haven been back. I don't like it cause you can only really see the front stretch- at least where we were.

Don't get me wrong going is still awesome but it is not my favorite. I am very loyal to Dover. I have been going there for as long as i can remember.
