A "good" hotel is completely subjective.  You need to figure out what is important to you at a hotel and then figure out if that hotel fits your needs.  Are you looking for spectacular food?  Beautiful views?  Large, luxurious rooms?  Great service?  Lots of activities?  Rarely does one hotel have it all and you need to read reviews to find out what this hotel is good and bad at.

One of the best ways to find out if your hotel is good or not is the website Trip Advisor.  At the same time though, you have to figure out who to believe and who you think might have just been cranky while on their trip.

Your hotel seems to be pretty good.  On tripadvisor.com, out of 157 hotels in Cancun rated by people who have been there, your hotel is #32.  All of the most recent reviews are pretty high, so that's a good sign.
