I am going to try snowboarding..any Tips?

I am 13 years old and i have skiied for maybe 2 years(something like that) and I have been thinking about trying snowboarding. Is it hard? Should I buy or rent a snowboard? Should I take lessons first or just get out there and try it myself?

I was wondering if you could give me some GOOD tips on basic snowboarding or if you know any sites with beginner info.

Take a lesson!

You'll learn safety as well as the basics and won't be quite as sore at the end of the day!

Your skiing experiece should help with your knowledge of the ski area and balance,  but be prepared to stay in the beginner area for awhile.

Sometimes it's hard to "start over" again.

well at first it's kind of hard but then if you keep doing it becomes easy. I think you should rent a board  first and see if you like it. then  if you like it and you should buy a board. if you have any friends that snowboard  then ask them it they could show you.

ok well i teach lessons and the easiest way to learn is to take basic lessons...I know when I started it helped me get confidence...

You are 13 years old....thats a perfect age to start, your butt will be sore I garentee it but dont be scared! Its a fun sport and once you get going on it you will be absolutly fine

Tips:

Try to find your center balance, keep your knees slighly bent so you feel more stable. Push yourself and no matter how bad it hurts DONT GIVE UP...because once you get it you we feel so proud of yourself.... take risks but be safe! Good luck

deffinilty rent for your first time, otherwise you might waste your money.

also take a lesson or you'll be sitting on your butt the whole day.

this christmas break im goigfor my fifrst time so im not much help. All i can say i good luck and dont any trees i heard its painfull!!!!
