  1. your doctor can advise you best in relation to your own medical history.  in short though your body will rapidly adapt and you will not suffer from sea sickness after a relatively short period of time.

  2. If you live in Canada, the patch (as described above) is not something you need a prescription for. I just bought some for my upcoming cruise.

You can also try ginger tablets which can work, or special bracelets that target specific pressure points to relieve stress.

Most of all, keep something in your stomach (like crackers) if possible. You will get used to the sway of the boat, and won't notice it after awhile.

  3. I worked ships 10 years, most my co-workers who got sea sick used the seabands (http://www.sea-band.com/seaband.htm)

You will find them at the shops on board (usualy the same shop that sells chocolates and aspirin).

Its very good according to some people who got very sea sick.

But depending on the size of the ship and the seas you will be sailing, you wont even notice. If its a small or old ship, then yes.

Baltic/Norway with Nordkap, Bay of Biscaine (between France and Spain) and some transatlantic crossings are the worse.

Last year I got a storm going from Italy to Brazil, close to Madeira Islands that nothing stayed where they should. The whole perfume shop fell to the ground... was pretty bad.

But most times its smooth, specially the Caribbean.

  4. they sell little patches that you put behind your ear that keeps you from getting se sick

  5. Your docotor can perscribe you a tiny patch that goes behind your ear and you can wear it for 3 days at a time. There is no drozyness or excitability like some pills can bring.

You will see 1/2 the passanges on the cruise wearing these. It has helped me several times, I am very motion sick.

    --the patch is called Transderm-scop
