  1. I played volleyball from fourth grade til senior year in highschool. I loved the sport, it was so much fun.

    Have you ever played before?

The training in pretty brutal if you are not in shape and I guarantee you will be very sore for about a week. You need to be lightening fast on your feet and have good control of the ball. I suggest you buy a volleyball and practice if you have never played before. Learn how to bump the ball with your forearms, set the ball with your fingertips (they should be in the shape of a triangle) and spike the ball with the palm of your hand.

When I tried out freshman year in high school they made everyone run 5 miles just to try out, yes I think that was crazy. I'm not sure if you will have to do that it just depends on your school.

Just be in shape, practice before you go to tryouts, maybe take a summer camp for it and I guarantee you will have lots of fun!

  2. Hi Jess, volleyball is a great sport to choose. It is fun and gets you in shape. I would say the main thing you should know how to do for volleyball is passing because if you cant pass then the setter cant give you a good set and then you cant slam the ball down their throats. When you pass you want to have a good platform by putting your thumbs together and one hand on top of the other. You want the ball to hit your forearms, between your wrist and about halfway to your elbow is the ideal spot. I have been playing since 7th grade and got moved up to varsity in 9th grade.Have fun!

PS>remember to call for the ball well in advance to make less confusion on the court.

  4. well there are a lot of rules so I'm not going to go through them all but I'm also gonna be a freshman and i have been playing since 6Th grade so I'm just worrying you if your not good then you will probably not make it

  5. woah.

your gonna be a freshman and are barely trying volleyball.

im gonna be a freshman too.

but this is my fourth year.

im a outside hitter and love it.

but as for youu i kant help cuz idk you height or anything.

but right now me & my team have 2 a days.

and we run a mile everyday.

the most important thing in volleyball is SERVING & PASSING

    if you cant do that

    then your outta luck

  6. Volleyball is alot of conditioning so

Run daily (*sprints mainly, like end of the street*)

    Lift weights

Do anything that makes you sweat like crazy and gets your heart pumping! Use your imagination...........etc..........

In Volleyball you have mainly the BUMP, SET, SPIKE, SERVE!

    Practice those every SINGLE day.

3 hits each side, ball cannot touch the ground...AT ALL

Setter gets the 2nd ball most of the time

In High school you are expected to serve overhand and be in fairly good shape.

Try to go to camps/clinic/play club volleyball to touch up your skills.

    Don't eat junkfood....at least try not to....that much.... :)

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT..... i know its corny but its true!!

  7. this the tips you are looking for:

-Competitive teams of Volleyball are supposed to master six basic skills: serve, pass, set, attack, block and dig.

-In serve, a player stands behind the endline and serves the ball, in an attempt to drive it into the opponent's court.

-Pass is an attempt by a team to properly handle the opponent's serve, or any form of attack. It is one of the hardest skills to develop in the game.

-Set is the second contact that a team makes with the ball. Its main goal is to put the ball in the air in such a way that it can be driven by an attack into the opponent's court.

-Attack is the third contact a team makes with the ball. Its object is to handle the ball so that it lands on the opponent's court and cannot be defended.

-Block is the action taken by players standing at the net to stop or alter an opponent's attack.

-Digging is preventing the ball from touching one's court after a spike, particularly a ball that is nearly touching the ground.
