I have a Schengen visa. Driving to Switzerland would mean taking another visa. Is it worth it driving to Lucerne from Paris. This will be in the end of May this year. Would you recommend any other charming city in France or another Schengen country nearby. The drive to Lucerne would be atleast 6 hours. So I fear it would take most of my time from the 2 days.

  1. My parents are going there for spring break, and my sisters French teacher recommended to  them that they visit there.  She said it was very interesting and well-worth the drive

  2. Why not stay near Paris?  Go see Versailles one day and go to Reims the next.

I had three days on holiday in Paris, and wish I had two more.  It is easy to spend five days and not get bored.

  3. i dont know Lucerne

  4. Hi, Lucerne is in Switzerland, not in European Union and Schengen Space, will you call Swiss Consulate in States,I find to spend 7 or 8 hours on driving to Lucerne is not interesting, it's your choice, Europe is large and there are many towns, in Belgium : Bruges, very nice and one day is suffisant from Paris, Versailles (15 km) from Paris, very interesting.

London (2 hours and 20 mins with Eurostar), great city, the heart of stocks in Europe, 2 days show you the capital of UK.

Welcome in Europe ! have a fun trip !

  5. OOO I LIVE IN FRANCE!!!!!!!!!!

  6. You are so lucky! I would recommed for you to go see the Eiffel Tower. So many place to visit, just walk around. Good luck!

  7. Yea there is a lot to do in Paris and surrounding. Why would you want to make all that effort when there is awesome stuff around you already.

  8. okay, so!! hahah i love switzerland!!! ive just moved from switzerland to the usa:D lucern is pretty, and switzerlands amazing, but its very expensive and if u dont have all ur visa and stuck for time i dont sugest it:( it very far away, and it if ur not used to it, european roads u might get lost, and language cud be an issue.

everywhere in france is nice, i lived in the north of swissy, so the only places i can recommend are very swiss and german, and probably far away. Rouen possibly?

i hope u have an amazing time!! france is amazing!!!

  9. If you must go to Lucerne to see this Mountain - then see it.  It is your time and money, do what you have to do.

If it were me - no I would not - unless I were flying.  With only 5 days to spare I would not want to spend all that time driving.  the air faires in Europe have become competitive lately.  I would check around first.  Keep in mind that Europeans are taxed more on gas than in the US so gas WILL be more expensive over there - so keep that in mind when you do your pricing.

If it were me - I would spend my time in France.  There are many fascinating cities.  You could spend most of your time in Paris.  Then maybe you could go to Normandy, Bretagne or the Loire Valley.  Or go see Provence or maybe Toulouse or Bordeaux.

  10. I would stay in France.  There is more than enough to see.  Paris is by far the best, but you should see away from the big city.  Annonay is very charming.

  11. Is there anything particular in Lucerne that you wish to see? I know there is a casino there. Also, in Nov. they have the Lucerne Blues Festival. I've been told my many musicians that it is a very beautiful resort. Hope this helps.

  12. Too much gas.. take a train and then rent if you want the car.

Plenty of things to explore closer to Paris with a car as well.

nope I wouldn't recommend it. End of May it's just getting nice and warm.

You can visit practically the whole continent with a Schengen. If you drowsy of France and all it has to offer, try heading East towards Alsace or even further into Germany. I'd think about trains though. The again if you don't mind dropping hundreds of Euro's to drive go for it.
