I am good at guessing, are you?

I have this "magical" power. I am good at guessing :) .

no really! I have been always able to choose the right answer in my mulitple answer exams when I was in school. I don't get them all right of course, but I get many of them.

you may say that I already knew the answer in my subconscious mind and all that stuff, but how about this: in my work, there are 4 elevators. when I am waiting for the elevator, I can guess which one will arrive first with an accuracy of like 7 or 8 out of 10.

Yes, I'm good at that too. In a True/False quiz I always get at least 50% right.

in multiple answer exams, there is a logic to guessing the right answers. In fact, most questions are rather leading, or the answers have a logical order.

I have seen completely non-sensicle exams which demonstrate that you dont need to know the answers to get most multiple answer questions correct.

As for elevators, they run on an algorithm. Particular ones are cued to certain floors when they are inactive, and particular ones will respond to certain floors. If there is no activity in the elevators for 5 minutes, then you could predict by the algorithm that runs the elevator exactly which one will respond to each floor.

In the hospital near us, there are two elevators side by side and 2 floors. The right elevator cues to floor 1 and the left elevator cues to floor 2. Nine times out of ten the right elevator will pick you up on floor 1.

However if someone recently came down from floor 2, then the left one will pick you up on floor 1.

This is not magic, just observation.

Instead of trying to say something clever or sarcastic, I offer you a way to prove this to yourself .

If you want to prove it is not logical, then take a multiple exam in a foreign language and see how well you do. That would remove many variables that people could argue/

Wow, you got some, but not all, questions right on a multiple choice test?  So does every single person who takes tests.  You'll find the correct guesses increase the more you know about the subject on which you are being tested.

This thing with the elevators is called confirmation bias.  You remember the successful guesses more earnestly than the unsuccessful.  Check it out.

in multiple answer questions, there is always a certain probability you will guess the answer correctly. given that the right answer usually has info from the question, your chances of guessing right increase. Multiple choice questions are set up to pass to begin with.You ever wonder why most people pass these tests? As for elevators, I think I would guess the one that is coming down first would be the first to arrive based on the observation that most elevators have a place to see what floor the elevator is on, which is going up and which is coming down. Again, there is already a set probability as to guessing which one will arrive first.

I believe you. I do experience the same. All I need to do is quieten my mind and bingo - I get it right. All my life I've had to explain to people how /why I know certain stuff when no one ever even told/ showed me.

Honestly, it's was a very lonely life being a psychic kid in school where I knew more about the topics the teacher was teaching, than the teachers themselves! And it was funny because I'd read their mind's and get in trouble for saying dirty things out loud to the whole class - dirty things that the teachers were thinking!!!

I've found that it is hard for normal people to understand because they are so well, normal...lol. My advice is play with it and have fun!!!

I passed a Latin test one time by filling in random "dots..circles". It was a big test in another town and we got lost and were late for the test...so I had to guess. I was really really surprised..and so was my Latin teacher. lol. On "Phenomenon" this week I scored"1".  Doesn't matter..I don't want to be "psychic"...it can make you paranoid...every bad feeling you have...you're afraid something bad happened.

I am not great at guessing, but when the phone rings I almost always know who is on the other end (and we don't have caller ID).  Also, I can sense when things are happening.  I had a bad feeling about my mother, and when I called the house I was told by my father she had just passed away.  She hadn't been sick.  I was standing in line to pick up some dinner and I turned to the man behind me and said I have to leave right now, my son just broke his arm.  When I got home there was a note from my husband that he had taken my son to the ER because he broke his arm.  Things like that happen to me all the time.
