  1. You've got a few options to play beach and indoor locally around NYC:

    1)  NY Urban Professionals League:  This league has several divisions at every skill level, there's one to fit where you are.  It's convenient, but you've gotta pay per season, and it's not daily.

    2)  Spike League NJ:  Similar to Urban, but less expensive.  Downside, is that it's in Jersey.

    3)  Central Park Pickup games:  It's free, and usually a good level of play.  Sometimes they play beach, sometimes it's on the blacktop.  It's not 6v6 but it's decent.

    4)  CLUB BALL:  There are several clubs in NYC, a simple Google search will help you.  They are very expensive, but will do the best to improve your game, and get exposure to college coaches, if that's your goal.

If you want to play beach, there are two NYC area beach tours:  Great American Volleyball (greatamericanvolleyball.com) plays down the Jersey Shore, and East End volleyball's based in Long Island.

    Enjoy!

  2. go on google and search

"volleyball(or sand volleyball) tryouts/leagues in _your city here__, new york"

    hope this helps?

  3. see if you can get enough people to sign a petition to make volleyball a school sport.

see if you can go to other schools and play with them.

if you have friends that are into volleyball, set up a game.  i see people playing volleyball on a parking garage, in front of a business building.

  4. Well idk about NYC, but where I live, they have city community sports, maybe you could look into that.

  5. sucks your school doesn't have a team.

Try like the y or something

  6. are you asian?  Play 9 man volleyball!  If you don't know what that is, check it out on youtube.  Or even better, this weekend (Sat Aug 30 - Mon Sep 1), go to Seward Park at the corner of Canal St and Essex in the Lower East side near Chinatown.  You'll see a competitive form of volleyball that will help you develop your vball skills and maybe not worry about not having vball at your school.

Otherwise, if you're still looking to play vball, there's bound to be some club volleyball teams in your area.  You'll have to do some digging though.
