  1. If the company agree's you can, but if they say no which they have then they just have to give you your holiday pay.

  2. As far as I know, yes you can. Exceptions do occur so I would look into details in the event there is some oddity. A mate of mine took away three weeks pay, all paid at the end of the holiday time. He gave proper notice. Perhaps they were as happy to see the back of him as he was to bugger off.

  3. Check your contract. I only got a % of mine.

ie. 25 days a year. 1 month of work = 2.08 days of holiday.

If you're holiday started in Jan 08. You'd be entitled to 16.5 days. Deduct what you've already used from 16.5 and that's how many days you'd be left with.

  4. If you are leaving the job permanently, your boss would probably give you nothing.

  5. Actually yes you can, do you have a union ?  If not, just phone the Department of Fair Trading to Double check, I do believe you can.

    Good Luck.

    Enjoy your holiday.

  6. Hi aud,

That depends upon where you live.

I live in the USA and I did that when I left my job, but in the US, employers are req'd to pay out accrued vacation time when an employee leaves.

  7. use your vacation first then let them know about your last 2 week not one month. if you have earned the 10 days you should be able to use it regardless.

  8. I would check this with the CAB or local Claimants Advice Centre, as in the UK, no private agreement can override an act of Parliament.

  9. Unless you have booked it beforehand then no.

They will owe you money if you have accrued holidays.

Normally you would have to give notice for any holidays which would take you beyond your leaving date I am guessing.

  10. If you have acrrued that amount of leave over the course of your annual leave year then it should you should either be able to take it as part of your notice or paid the equivilent amount as part of your last months salary.  Either way they owe it to you.  You have a right to that annual leave, although it is up to management as to when you are allowed to take it

  11. Holiday is an annual entitlement. If you finish before the year end you won't get all of it. eg. 24 days entitlement will be counted as 2 days per month.

If you finish say 3 months before the year end you will loose 6 days.

Many firms prefer to pay for outstanding holidays when you leave.

  12. If your boss says no then no it is.  But check your employee policies on that before you take his word for it.  But it doesn't sound like you can do that.  At my job you can't do that.

  13. If your employer does not allow you to take the holidays you are due they will have to pay you for them.

If you are a member of a union have a word with your rep.

  14. If your boss says no, then the answer's no - your company will, however, be required to pay for any holiday accrued. If you get, for example, 24 days leave per year (starting on 1st January), you've already taken 14 days this year, and you will finish work at the end of September, you will only have 4 days left, not 10, as you wouldn't accrue the other 6 days as you weren't working for the company for the last 3 months of the year.

  15. depends if you acrue your holidays or if you have a set amount in a year.

if you get say 20 days a year and stay only for 6 months and have already taken 10 days holidays , then you wouldnt be able to take the other 10 because you are leaving with 6 months to go

If you had taken all holidays , you would infact owe the company money because they paid you for holidays you havent stayed to earn.

If however you are contracted then any hours acrued for holidays will be yours and need owing...

    hope this makes sense

  16. 30 day notice i dont think you can but if you really wanted to you could force it on him but there is the leagle issue of the whole 30 day nitce thing its a d**n grey area
