I live in a very small town and with the horrid prices of gas I cannot get around shopping malls and other interesting stores. Since I have a phobia of dentists being put out is a must . I've been putting off this wisdom tooth removal for 10 years. Anyhow my grandmother managed to find a dentist who has a reputation of being decent and kind to his frightened patients. I will have IV sedation and since I will be in an area where there are places to shop besides Walmart I would like to go Shopping. Will I be able to?

  1. Its not as bad as you think. I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out at the same time. After they are finished with you, you will be drousy and tired, but thats about it.

  2. Not after you have had your wisdom teeth out.  You will be sent home with a driver and you will sleep!  The next day you will be fine.

I had one wisdom tooth removed, and I don't remember the trip from the parking lot of the oral surgeon to me winding up on the couch.  I don't even remember being helped up the steps into the house.

You won't feel like shopping and besides you won't be able to.

  3. They last the rest of the day. I was put under as well for my wisdom removal *4* teeth haha. They put laughing gas on you first. calms you down. then they put morphine. funny thing, when they gave me the morphine i was still enhaling laughing gas and got really high off of it, and kept seeing the ceiling swarming around me and stuff coming to life and laughing lol it was so funny they kept tryin to put my arm down. finally they put me to sleep. all you remember is, they give you a shot, then they are yelling at you trying to wak you up. when you finally come to and wake up, you can barely even walk, they literally have to carry you out of the office to your car so its good that someoens going with you to drive you safely home. shopping will be a no go that day.

  4. You will only be able to shop if you do so before you go to the dentist.  First of all,  you will have some cotton stuffed in your mouth,  that would make you look pretty silly while shopping.

The IV sedation takes a while to leave your body,  which is why you will want to sleep for quite a while after you are done,  you will be very groggy,  and will be too clumsy to adventure to any stores.

    Shop first,  dentist later........

  5. depends on the level of the sedation. i would ask before you go what they expect. For me the mild sedation i had once i was almost normal in 4-6 hours. if you go shopping the next day you should be ok. Everyone reacts differently. if they have to give you more for some reason it could take 12 hours till a week. when i had major surgery i was a little lightheaded for almost a week. i would say a day for sure. you may not notice it that long or could be longer. it shouldn't take much for what you are having done.

  6. Well if your talking about right after you get your teeth pulled then that's a no. Sorry, I just had mine pulled a couple of months ago and I got IV sedation and after I was completely out of it for a little while! The best thing to do after wards is go home and go to sleep. Your mouth is really sore after wards. Don't mean to scare you but I just want you to know what's going to happen before you get in there. It took about a week and a half to 2 weeks before I was completely recovered! So you might have to wait to go do your shopping! Much Blessings, hope everything works out.
