bon jovi is usually a good choice! "livin on a prayer", "it's my life" and "have a nice day" are really good ones to use. also, the person that said to use the Now That's What I Call Music collection is right. except you can try the older ones and play the upbeat older ones so everyone at the party will be like "o i remember this song! i haven't heard it in so long!" but start off with today's hits then switch on and off with the older ones

I just wanted to mention that you can't go wrong with funk.  If it has a Red Hot Chili Peppers or George Clinton vibe, it will make good party music even if your guests have never heard it before.   When you funk it up, even the lame-os who claim they have no rhythm will dance.
