We do this every week and lately its been getting a little monotenous. We've broken up the boredom a little by changing venues, but the eat, talk, leave/play the same games every week combo, is starting to bore people and they are starting to not show up! What is a good game or incentive to excite people to show up for dinner?? This week dinner is at my house and I want a packed house. Please any help would be much appreciated!

  1. Have a murder mystery dinner party, or if your group likes service events maybe serve dinner at a homeless shelter one evening and dine with the homeless people.

On the other hand, if things are getting monotonous consider making the get togethers every other week instead of weekly.

  2. Rent a karaoke machine. That should bring out the fun. Also, think about serving a buffet style finger food dinner such as chicken strips, veggie plates, etc.......very informal and fun.

  3. Free Alcohol and Naked Twister after Dessert!!!

  4. karaoke is a great idea.

not sure what your food has been like recently.

but try a taco or tex mex night.

    messy food is always fun.

you can try a game like taboo or dirty minds.

it's a clean game that makes people think you are thinking bad things. church folk friendly

or a dvd trivia game maybe

  5. go w/ some sort of theme.  something that gets everyone into making the food (pizzas, tacos, asst pasta and toppings)

be kids again!  why not have ice cream for supper???  build your own sundaes w/ tons of toppings.

or a cereal bar.  this is an actual restaurant theme in NY.  you mix 2 or 3 kinds of your favorite kids cereal w/ the fruit of your choice.

you could also use the other big thing right now - food that looks like other food.  like meatloaf and mashed potatoes served to look like cake and ice cream.  or cinnamon crisps w/ white chocolate topping that has been colored orange for nachos.  this is limited only to imagination.

visit someplace like family christian bookstore for new ideas for games and things.  also, summer is coming up - everyone is getting geared towards vacation bible school.  so, why not use those types of activities to carry ya'll out thru the whole summer.  orientaltrading.com has some of the coolest things for vbs.

  6. You could set up a bible study jeopardy.  Like do sections like corthians and so forth. make it simple but not too simple.. put prizes for everyone but the main one gets to choose a dish ro bring home ( like spagettii or  thing of brownies) or money or someting cool

  7. *You could have Trivia Night, and make prizes (little things you can put into gift baskets from the dollar store, nothing extravagant).*

*People like door prizes, and there are so many cool, inexpensive prizes you could get for the night.*

*Do you guys take pictures at your game nights? You could get a slideshow of the funniest/silliest pictures and put it to a funny song and show it during meal time on a projector.*

*This will take some planning, but you could do a Scavenger Hunt.  Something simple with objects that could be gathered around your home or immediately outside your home.*

*Since it's a church group, maybe you could play a game where you come up with some hot-button topics to debate, and have teams try to argue by giving Biblical support for their arguments, and the team with the fastest time, or best support wins!*

*Also, try having a barbecue, or a picnic, instead of having the dinner inside.  If it's a nice day, get everyone to socialize in the sunlight.*

*And take suggestions.  If you know people are bored, ask them what they'd like to do, so that everyone can learn when it's their turn to entertain.*
