How hard is it to come out from sedation if you have asthma (which i rarely have problems with anymore) i know i shouldnt smoke, but i have to have this surgery and im scared to death of not coming out of it, also i have never had heart problems and last year my heart rate was like 240 when i got to the er (i have not had any problems with this since they put me on blood pressure meds) and they told me i had like an extra pathway like a backup for blood to be carried to my body, i have palpatations every now and then and my heart will just pound hard every once in a while...im scared to death and dont know if i should just live with the pain as opposed to having the surgery and risking not coming out of it i have a child that solely depends on me...any thoughts?

  1. Just make sure that you tell the surgeon everything you have said here. They need all the information in order to properly anesthetize you. The doctors are well schooled in telling if you are a poor risk for surgery. THe last thing they want is to have a problem on the operating table. There are risks with all surgery. This is a pretty short procedure. You should be fine. Just make the doctor aware of all of your concerns.

  2. I just went thru a surgery for a herniated disk (L-5) it was  not a fun time but the anesthetic did not seem to affect me that badly afterward. I'm not you though and it might be harder on you than it was for me.
